The American Association of University Women (AAUW) Cincinnati branch is seeking an intern
for an opportunity of learning and contributing to a dynamic project. This is an excellent opportunity to participate in the
substantive work of a prominent women's organization. AAUW is the nation's leading
advocate for educational equity for women and girls with 150,000 members and more than 1,500 branches nationwide. The intern
will be provided with a mentor who is a local business owner and can assist the intern with any duties. This internship allows
students to gain practical work experience and create a network of invaluable local contacts in combination with their academic
studies. *
MARKETING/COMMUNICATIONS
INTERN
Local AAUW branches provide opportunities for activism developing programs that promote education
and equity for women and girls and taking stands on crucial issues that affect women.
DUTIES
Under the guidance of the branch communications or membership
officer, the intern may:
- Assist with branch
marketing and recruitment efforts.
- Edit and write articles for branch newsletters.
- Develop a list of local media contacts.
- Draft and mail news releases to local media about new research, branch programs, and AAUW initiatives.
PREREQUISITES
- Undergraduate student majoring in marketing, journalism, advertising, or related field
- Shows initiative and enthusiasm; works well independently and as part of a team
- Strong writing, organizational, and computer skills needed
